Someone once told me “you don’t look like a feminist, you were heels and make up, and bras”. I couldn’t help but laugh.
Here I was at 17 being told by someone who really didn’t know me, or feminism that my outward appearance effects my political leanings. To me, I get to wear heels, make up, bras and mini skirts or I get to wear jeans or a hotdog costume, because I am a feminist. Feminism has given me so many options in life, it was the women who died who gave me the right to choose what I wear, where I wear it, with who and why. Feminism isn’t just about fighting for now but respecting the fights won in the past, so yes I wear my bra, and my make up and my heels, and I think “I’m able to do this because someone fought for my future, not just my wardrobe
